Pumpkin launchin'

Who doesn't like a good launch? This weekend my Father and his girlfriend, Helen came for a short visit with us kids. So, naturally we went to the fabled farms of Greenbluff WA where you can find all things country – including the gigantic pumkin launcher!

My super fantastico soeur, Holly and Nick, her boyfriend extraordinaire joined us from Seattle and so we all headed up to the farm to see what we could see and get some pumpkins but we never thought we'd see this.

and then we came upon the launcher

And finally the launch, that little pumkin flew 500 yards. Nope you can't beat that

Thank you!

To Laisha and T, thank you, thank you! If you could have seen the rest of the house for that week, and any other week for that matter. I am still finding a hammer here and a bit of sub flooring there, Richard managed to stash a few things in odd places and the dust! Anyway, you guys are too kind ... much love! K

Fall comes to the garden

The garden prepares for winter in the same way that it bursts alive in the spring – there's so much happening. It's like the tide rolling out to sea – the frost and wind peel the leaves and pedals away revealing the bones of the plants. The sun is softer and the frost lingers in the shady spots – I really love it.

I call it a RE-DO

Good Lord it's been a while hasn't it!

Well, I have to admit that I haven't really felt much like blogging or anything else lately. Life has just gotten too busy and hectic and all for what? I'm not sure. There's an article in this months Yoga Journal about simplifying your life... I must find time to read that.

Richard and I decided to forego a trip to the beach this fall so we could finally realize our dream kitchen ... then we realized reality. In the last 2 years we have visualized moving the kitchen into the dining room, adding a laundry and half bath, knocking out walls and gutting old fixtures and finally landed on re-painting and updating the floor and counter tops. At least we know our limits and still have a few cents in the bank for dog food. After a mutitude of hours plugged in to the HGTV channel I am really proud to present our own 'Do it yourself' project that didn't break the bank, our checkbooks or our spirits. And why is everynone so surprised that we're still talking?

Just so you know, I hardly did anything, Richard is amazing!
Love you Richie!

We're still working on the tile backsplash and we're going to install some new lighting under the cabinets, over the sink and change the main fixture to a vinatge one...ooh cool!

Here are the pictures. I tried to put some before and after shots together so you can see the difference.
