What our lab Chester doesn't eat, Richard picks and my Mom and I make as much grape jelly as we can in one day. We usually get about 500lbs plus and leave some for the birds.
Last year a stranger knocked on my door and asked if he could pick the rest of my grapes - I complied but Richard says we aren't doing that anymore - So introduce yourself first.
Here's a photo journey along the Grape Jelly highway
The vine

The picker

The grapes

The first batch was white

The rest of the batches were purple

This year we made 7 dozen jars and have plenty of grapes left over.

Oh YUM!
I LOVE concord grapes. I've only had the purple ones, though. And grape jelly, double yum!
I didn't do any jamming or canning this year, but I'm already fantasizing about next year. It's a lot of work, but sooooo worth it.
i saw these pictures on flickr and was awaiting the blog post. great pictures and delicious looking jelly. looks like a lot of work, but it also looks like a tradition and i do love those traditions, especially ones that result in homemade gifts. nice work!
looks delicious! and i thought i was doing a lot of canning. yummmy!
it reminds me of that i love lucy episode when they're stomping on all the grapes in that big pool. hah! that was funny. maybe you should try that method next time. hehe.
Oooh I never knew jelly could be so pretty! You turn everything into art Miss Klay! And wonderfully so.
